We have introduced a new model of the Easy-fill box filler using ‘finger’ belts to eliminate drop. Introduction of the finger belts — the first on a UK manufactured box filler — is a further advance in gentle handling of the crop to eliminate damage.
The technique has been pioneered on the compact model, the Micro-fill, where the potatoes descend at a steeper angle into the box. Now the finger belts are being introduced to the standard Easy-fill range, liminating the need for the hoods to hold back the crop.
"The finger belts achieve a gentler, more even fill," says Barry Ledger, sales manager of Tong Engineering. "We believe they represent further progress in safeguarding the quality of the potato crop."
The finger belts are now available on the full Easy-fill range, operating at similar speeds to the existing products. The new models also have a restyled chassis, with the control panel contained within it to avoid the risk of damage from fork–lift trucks. The Easy-fill range is available from £9,360.
